I was gonna just make this a profile post but I didn't wanna clog up the main page with a buncha pics of my den

I moved some stuff around but I'm happy with what I have rn~ I wanna try giving it more personality and cover the walls with posters and other stuffs

I wanted this side of the room to be a e a s t h e t i c, sort of like those 2000s pics with a bunch of tech (cassettes, games, computers etc.) neatly strewn out. It's fun to look at ^-^

I got this fight stick today. It's on the cheaper side but aesthetically I'm kind of obsessed with it. Very clicky tho. I'm afraid I might wake up somebody.

Mac Tonight

I rlly wanna put an early 2000s desktop where the Mac Tonight tapestry is, and get a good CRT monitor and wooden desk and such. But I feel like the room would feel too cramped after that. We'll see

thinkpad t420 + old flatscreen + i3wm = more screen than you'd ever need

this is my bed, which is not a bed at all but a mat with blankets because mattresses are a psyop from Big Mattress
and they're bad for your back,,,
this is also where i hop onto containment chat in the mornings,
and where i earned my 10,000 chat award

these are my chalkboards i made, about 4 feet high and 8 feet wide,
and im charting physicists and parapsychological researchers (find /PPG/ thread)

I won't post my room to avoid a self-dox, but I will describe it. I moved not too long ago, and since I'm in the new house, I have a proper room again. I don't have much setup yet, I mostly am in there whenever I decide to go to sleep, or if I have to find some wires, otherwise I am sitting at the kitchen-table. However, it is significantly better than basically having no room and sleeping on a couch instead since the bed setup is very comfy.

I may setup some game consoles there soon, we'll see. I have considered going for the bunk-bed without the bottom, then putting a desk there where I will use my laptop or whatever. I prefer properly sitting up when using my computer, hence why i dont just type things on my bed as it'd hurt after laying there for 6 to 8 hours of sleep + sitting up for all that time. Comfy to lay on, not comfy to sit on every minute of the day due to awkward positioning after so many hours. A proper office chair is better, and so is a desk with your laptop on top of it.

I plan to keep the room mostly basic, more minimalist if anything. Although, on another note, since we have a garage now, I may actually consider cleaning it up heavily, then using it for an out of site home-server. I could just route the ethernet cable from the router to the garage, so this won't be a big problem. If I do it carefully, it might even be possible to hide the cable well enough that it doesn't look too off. I could also use the garage to an extent to do stuff like start buying then repairing old tech, then perhaps selling it later.

If I somehow ran out of space in the garage, I would put the tech into my room until I could clear inventory. Get old devices in bulk, repair or even upgrade, resell for profit. Mass obtaining old phones that are "broke", then repairing them and using them for Monero mining would be fun. Yes, I know I'm getting mere pennies even if I charge it all via solar panels, an easy job down south, but regardless, Monero mining is fun. If its possible to resell the device and have it work for *at least* 5+ years after too, then I am perfectly ok with it anyways, since that means I can mostly regain the profit from the original sale. I would prefer at least 20+ years without issue even after I am unable to use it for Monero mining further, but that is probably unrealistic in many cases.

I will have to figure out cooling for a homeserver though, since while it is decently cold now, it won't always be cold and it'll likely actually be very hot in summer, especially in the garage rather than the rooms, due to little to no AC. It should be possible though, so the extra space is amazing XD.

Oh, look at me, I have nine consoles I don't even use and a fat-ass Trinitron which is here to justify my subscription to this awesome Twitter channel, not that I ever played Symphony Of The Night on it myself.

I obviously do not want to post something like OP has posted, because it will have the same air of falsehood.
And I do not want to post my living room as is for multiple reasons, but one of them is because it will be infinitely more unkempt compared to the prettied up OP stuff... because I actually live in it.
This thread illustrated that Instagram problem in a nutshell perfectly: when people post those beautiful moments of their life and nothing more. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Well, that's a weird habit. I keep 'em all in one place in case I need them. My... cable cabinet.

Anyway, after re-reading my own post - and replies - I feel like I should elaborate. Here's the photo I shared in keyboard thread:

What it looks like right now, almost ten years later, if I'll just pop up and take a picture of it? Well, here goes:

You can easily see a lot of keys lost their side icons. Table lost a lot of paint because I forgot to lacquer it. Yes, I should just disassemble it, strip the paint and do a fresh one, but it takes time, and I obviously have a lot of things going on every day, so I keep putting it off and off.
A lot of stuff lies around - stuff that I actually use constantly, and therefore it is there. It's not like I gotta put my ruler somewhere far away, since I'm going to use it in two hours again.

So it is with the rest of the room. My chair, while it was pretty back in the day, lost a lot upholstery. It's still comfortable, but it barely looks anyhow nice. A lot of stuff that wasn't here before is here now, like the dedolights, which ain't pretty anyhow and have very industrial looks, but I need them for my camera and it's not like I'm going to disassmeble the whole setup for a pretty photo.
All in all, I live here, I lived here for years, and it just shows. No amount of cleaning will hide the simple damage that time has done to the place.
And that one on OP picture? It doesn't seem like anyone's been there even for a month. It looks like an advertisement, albeit I'm not even sure what it tries to advertise, and therefore it just serves to make me mad.
I mean, look at that Nintendo Switch, standing right there, on the lowest fucking level, screen first towards the viewer, just waiting - no, begging for someone to put their foot into that screen.
That's the way consoles are placed in the shop, not in someone's home. Nobody in their right fucking mind stores their consoles like that. My PSP is disassembled, battery out, in a protective case, safely hidden in the closet - because yes, I do not use it, and, frankly, I should've sold it off long time ago, but I mostly keep it as a memento, since I sold my GameBoy.

So, could I upload those old pretty photos? Surely I could. But as I said, it would be a falsehood. Not to mention, that I did those photos for myself - that was indeed, as I said, my dream room in a vacuum, and so I took photos to keep that moment for myself, not to... advertise it? Or whatever?
Could I upload current photos? Sure, but looking at the OP's photos, I don't even want to. That, and a dozen of other reasons.

And yes, the photo I uploaded into the keyboard thread deserves all the same criticism: it's a prettied up picture that doesn't reflect the reality of things. But at least it's a keyboard I actually fucking use, and I didn't create a whole fucking thread for it.
