Nothing in that room looks like it's been touched. Nothing. I mean, what the fuck is that cable?
Why is it even there?
And pretty much everything else is just like that. It's not your living space - it is some kind of... your dream room in a vacuum. Lifeless.
It's for the "aesthetic" purpose. Maximalist decor has made a comeback on TikTok especially with people absolutely hoarding random stuff into their room. I'm not completely against it to an extent, I think these kind of rooms have a lot of character to them, like talking a stroll into someone's mind.
But its when people do shit like this that makes me rethink my opinion.
These rooms are just ugly, especially the first one. Its clear that the person who owns that room has 0 colour coordination. It is sickening to look at. In the second room, theres basic shit like vines and a poster of a mushroom. Why? Literally what is the significance of this?

Even if the person owning the room REALLY loved mushrooms or something, that poster is the most generic image I have ever seen. That shit is straight out of google stock photos. Makes me wonder if this person really likes anything in their room, or if they're simply just decorating it to fit a certain "aesthetic." Same for the third picture. There are CD's on the wall, big ones so I'm assuming they're VINYL- but where is the cover? They're just white. Like you said, lifeless. Simply there to only serve a purpose of looking pretty.
I think a maximalist room can be done well if its filled with things that actually MATTER. Sure, a few stuffed animals here and there are cool but wheres the charm? Wheres the whimsy? When a room is filled with many shelves, cupboards, lifeless stuff only there to fit an aesthetic and more expensive things to make it look more "maximalist" it makes me realise that the owner of the room is probably rich a hoarder.
When a room is filled with cheaper stuff, DIY's, random objects that have meaning and stories behind them, it makes me realise that the owner of the room is expressing themselves- and I think that is very beautiful. Even if stuff isnt cheaper or DIY- you can tell when someone's room is filled with memories and love, and u can tell when someone has just gone on amazon and mass bought a shit ton of accessories for their room without a second thought.
But either way, anything is better than having a sad, boring room like this
