-Might be more a personal choice considering how differently the various AC games feel, but I appreciate the vastly expanded customization options, overall game feel, branching story system, and the kick in the balls that is the difficulty. I could actually go on an autistic spiel about how the changes in movement, targeting, and projectile speed fundamentally alter the game for the better, but I'll spare you that.

But also I've seen my brother play through MSG2 from beginning to end. I have never seen a LP or played MSG3. Vamp was cool, Fortune was cool, Fatman was cool, the end was certifiably insane and at the same time prophetic of the present day, a giant mecha runs into New York and causes chaos... what more could you ask for?

I would like to ADD a game called: Dark Cloud (PS2!), this game is fucking awesome and actually the best JRPG/Dungeon-crawler I have ever played in my entire life, mainly for me because you need to rebuild towns by gathering the rescources through the dungeons, I love rebuilding shit. Mind you, the second game (Dark Chronicle) is also really good, but the SOUL really lays in the first, made in 2000. I wonder if more Agorans have ever played it.

I also agree that we need MGS2 instead of 3. Mainly because of the ending conversation which is awesome.

Absolutely beautiful and stylized, i am a sucker for cellshading and folklore. Also Sakuya awakened something in me with the kino butt window

LEGO STAR WARS COMPLETE COLLECTION

Fun by itself and with a friend, team killing eachother into a pile of lego pieces for hours on end and in retrospect it is kind of funny how driving the vehicles in this game was less clunky than in SWBF2. I adored unlocking so many obscure characters and then creating me custom jedi and imagine how it all went by inserting him into the story when playing the game.

WHAAT? I think it's a hidden gem for the PS2. It had cool combat that were regularly broken up by the puzzle sections where you played as the mummy so it never got stale.

Its a personal vendetta against the game, back then me young mind was getting fucked by the puzzles on a language i didnt spoke. Carried on the salt to this very day and today, on this here thread, i shall have the last laugh against Sphinx and the cursed mummy

I have 0 nostalgia for any of the MGS games as I started my playthrough of the series literally this year (now I have only 4 and 5 ahead of me) so my memories are very fresh. I played all of the orignial games (no remasters or so) on emulators. I go for non lethal playthroughs every time.

3 just felt half assed to me in its mechancis. The food/survivals system, the limited inventory space, the camos and the wounds/healing system were all kinda half assed and just forced you to go thorugh lists and menus a lot. Especially the camo system left a bad taste in my mouth since not only didn't it add anything but it also pulled me out of the immersion a lot when Snake would just change his entire uniform+facepaint every 10 seconds depending on lighting an background.
2 on the other hand was very focused in its mechanics. The jump from 1 to 2 also felt much bigger (naturally) so it just left a better impression. The story was also much more relevant, even today (or maybe especially today). While 3 does indeed have the better bosses, this isn't enough to elevate the overall experience for me. It's still a fun MGS but on the PS2 MGS2 takes the cake.

For "Need for Speed" I presume you mean Hot Pursuit 2? I've never played Ratchet and Clank 3, only the first 2, liked Going Commando a lot.

I think we should add some of the Ace Combat games to the pool. I think Zero is the fan favourite, I personally like 5 the best, though 4 was the best seller so it's probably the safest bet.

I only ever played Godzilla Save the Earth, but none of those Godzilla games ever really gave me the sense of being a giant monster that I wanted, to this day War of the Monsters is the only game that scratches that itch.
The Godzilla games were too focused on being like fixed camera traditional fighting games. By their nature they were slow and clunky, but I still enjoyed them as a kid for the theming.

I just wondered what people who had played both of them thought too.

Godzilla has a better sense of scale, the destruction was satisfying because it was real world locations, and cooler characters overall. But being locked to a single screen side by side facing position always just annoyed me, hated feeling restricted like that. The levels just felt like backdrops with little impact on the fight itself.
War of the Monsters is the better pick for feeling like you're actually a kaiju since you get more agency over your character, and then there's the creative level-utions and all the pick up weapons/debris. You could fly around and scale buildings/landscapes which added verticality to the combat.
Such a shame that kaiju games are non-existent these days
