He was 81 years old. So no, I don't think this was an Epstein thing.

I'm certain my fellow Agorans know who he is, so I won't bother with descriptions.

He was a great man, this is sad. Now we have both Pentti Linkola and Ted Kaczynski dead. At least their message lives on.

I'm gonna miss him, even though I never met him. His writings have influenced my world view so much, or rather put to words the feelings I've had for a long time. Even if you don't agree with his philosophy or what he did. You have to at least respect him for being someone who practiced what he preached.

Seriously? I thought he died shortly after his arrest? A few days ago his wikipedia was worded as if he died in the 90s. Why did no one mentioned him being alive all those years??

It isn't surprising, he told a fan at some point that he had cancer that he was likely to die from and was moved from ADX Florence (the supermax prison he served most of his sentence in) to a different prison for medical treatment.
Fun fact: Ramzi Yousef, Ted Kaczynski and Timothy McVeigh were all friends in prison, or at least as close as you can be to friends in a supermax prison where you're completely isolated. Then Tim got the lethal injection, and now Ted's dead, so poor Ramzi's on his own now.
(The comment about Ramzi being poor is in jest, glowies, I have no sympathy for terrorists, especially ones who are members of organised terrorist groups who mass murder innocent people via bombings)

Kaczynski's views on people regaining control of (cartoon) violence from the system is spot on. Even though his attempts to [hug/cuddle] the elites wasn't executed to perfection, it was still a noble effort that shows how lashing out at the [Minecraft server] should (hypothetically only in a simulation) properly be done against [corrupt Minecraft server admins.]
Part of me wishes he could've properly witnessed the rise of smartphones and the internet's shift from wild west to gentrification just to see what he would have to say about it.

"Never lose hope, be persistent and stubborn and never give up. There are many instances in history where apparent losers suddenly turn out to be winners unexpectedly, so you should never conclude all hope is lost." -:uncleted:

I think that from his perspective, it would only have been an example of how technology continues to intrude in our lives in more extreme ways, nothing particular about it.

Didn't know Agora Road had so many teenaged true crime podcast enthusiast the way you're fangirling over a serial killer lol.
But seriously:

Poor dude was sick in the head at best and just a massive narcissistic asshole at worst so I'm glad justice was served eventually and he spent his life in prison. Killing three innocent people and maiming many others should warrant a little more disdain for this fucker but I guess he was right about modern tech turning people into idiots.
His writing and ideas are worth discussing but that in no way redeems any of his horrible actions and ironically, people calling him based for his violence are more or less just proving his manifesto in that modern tech turned them into uncompassionate mouth breathers.
Whenever I see people online who really celebrate the guy I can only think of how people (especially) zoomers just don philosophy so quickly as an aesthetic.
They add a -core or -wave to it and post a few images/quotes online et voila, the zoomer adorned themselves with a hip new identity, that's easily exchanged for the hot new craze in a year or two. This superficial shit works nowhere as easy as online where just copy pasting a few images and lines of texts for your profile or social media page is effortless.

He writes that technology has had a destabilizing effect on society, has made life unfulfilling, and has caused widespread psychological suffering.[77] Kaczynski argues that most people spend their time engaged in useless pursuits because of technological advances; he calls these "surrogate activities", wherein people strive toward artificial goals, including scientific work, consumption of entertainment, political activism and following sports teams

Personally, I don't fully subscribe to most of that (or rather his proposed solutions) but when I see people online being really fond of him I tend to notice that they're not rarely the type of tech consumer Ted lamented. Posting online about how much you agree with Ted's manifesto is just a little bit too contradictory for me. I don't think I should be able to find someone who wholeheartedly agrees with the manifesto online if all places. Either that or it really is just the performative virtue signal.

There probably is a clever way to rationalize tech use and being a fan of his ideas simultaneously but it just doesn't convince me. Just like Jesus said that telling everyone what a good Christian you are is contradictory to his teachings so I immediately identify online Christians as merely wearing costumes for clout.

I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall in any room at Harvard where Kaczynski was evidently studying with Timothy Leary, a figure who would curiously be on the cutting edge of technology and the burgeoning cybernetic culture of the late 80s/early 90s. (and allegedly a FBI snitch, lol) There was always mystery around the time when Kaczynski was a student of Dr. Henry Murray, where possibly unethical experimentation occurred on young uncle Ted. While obviously his homicidal rampages should be wholly condemned, the guy was certainly onto something. Classic "oversocialization" paired with straight up cyberdelic technology all under the bland sky of corporate feudalism. I'm sure he is at peace knowing he now no longer exists in this often obnoxious "brave new world." Also in the top 3 for absolute coolest arrest photos, ever. :uncleted:
