GENOSAD
...or something equally edgy.
Thanksgiving is almost over, and Christmas is coming right afterwards. So, to get ourselves into- well, you know the spirit -- I've decided to organize a Christmas collab for Agora Road! In essence, the collaboration is to be a visual playlist of Christmas-themed vaporwave (or vaporwave-themed Christmas) songs and visuals. Here's how it works:
There are two entry categories: Audio and Visual.
Audio entries are simple: Make a vaporwave mix of any Christmas (or Christmas-ish) song. This can be as complex as a DDS.wmv-style comedown of 5 samples at once, or as simple as a B****r B**ts "slowed and reverbed" edit. The standards and limits are up to you!
Visual entries are also simple: Make a Christmas-related vaporwave aesthetic. There's a bit more flexibility to this one, thanks to the fact that "visual" is a broader term. It could be a static image, a looping animation, or a music video for someone else's audio entry. If the latter is your ambition, keep in mind that you'll probably be waiting for the other person to finish their audio entry before you can get started, so PLEASE don't bite off more than you can chew. It would be disappointing and sad for yourself and everyone else.
Work together!
The best collabs are... well, collaborative. Each visual entry will accompany an audio entry, and vice-versa. Don't just throw an image or song out there without caution; see if you can make it work with something that someone else is making! Don't be afraid to post your WiPs in the thread or share them with someone you'd want to partner with for your entry. If you sincerely doubt your skills, see if you can work with someone on their entry (e.g. drawing a character for someone else's visual entry. Be sure they credit you!).
Newfags need not apply.
Listen, I understand that you guys are enthusiastic about this place, I really do-- I was just like you when I first got here. But something I learned with the Family Photo thread is that people are all too eager to jump in on something to make themselves feel a part of it, but then fail to follow through with posting anything else on the forums. This is a community event, and as such, you need to actually be a part of the community. If your account was created on or after Sep. 22, thenFUCK OFF, WE'RE FULL wait around for the next event and LURK MOAR enjoy the forums in the meantime.
Entries are due by Dec. 23rd, whereupon I'll edit everything into one video and hopefully get it out on the 24th or 25th. If I somehow can't get it done by that point, then we'll rebrand it as a New Year's special and upload it on the 31st (or 1 Jan, if you live in a lucky timezone).
And finally, here's a table for who's doing what with whom. I'll be updating it as progress is made:
