• I added an agora current events board to contain discussions of political and current events to that category. This was due to a increase support for a separate board for political talk.

no, that is just "edgy alt kids",
schizzophrenia is diagnosis too; too, wired differently, chemical mix wrong, injury (trauma, either physical or other)...
nah I don't mean schizoid as in schizophrenia, but schizoid as in schizoid personality disorder. they can read social cues, interact with people normally, and know how to react properly if they like, but prefer being left alone and tend to have extremely flattened emotions that cause them to be socially avoidant and appear cold.

I do. I was diagnosed when I was around 15 after my parents got sick of my shit and forced me to get an evaluation. The official "report" states that it's ASD level I (high functioning) if I remember correctly. Still, I feel as if I am completely disconnected from normalfags. It's a very odd feeling because I see them every day and speak the same language, but they're still so foreign.
I'll list my heckin symptomerinos because why not:
  • special interests (in my case, cell phones and cellular technology)
  • restricted diet that mainly consists of simple things such as bread, rice, and some meats
  • inablility to "read" other people and understand why they do the things they do
  • mild compulsive behavior (hand washing, tapping, wiping my hands on my shirts)
  • poor eye contact obviously
I think my autism is especially difficult to live with because I'm not very smart. I can't remember exactly what I scored on the IQ test they made me take as part of the evaluation, but it was around dead average (100). While this may not seem like a big deal, the autism probably makes it seem like it's 20 points lower. I can't just brute force my way through life with sheer intelligence.
Sorry for typing up a whole blogpost, but I've never really been able to talk to people about this stuff. My family doesn't really get me at all.

I have some traits, but i'm not by any means an autistic person, i'm in the schizphrenic spectrum (also ocd, gad and mdd) so in a way is more of a common trait in neurodivergent people.
I think the disorders (particularly Aspergers) are more closely related than a lot of people give credit for, and share a lot of the same traits.

The main particularity is that i'm not socially impaired unlike people with autism lmao.

PS: asperger is an outdated therm, that shit doesn't exist no more apparently.

I don't care what the DSM says, I prefer the term & I think it's more relevant to the specific disorder (what Dr Asperger called "Psychotic Autism")

Honestly Autism seems like one of those labels people indentify as so they can belong to a tribe (and be a tribal monkey) and use an excuse to not self-improve.
If youre on Agora you already belong to the tribe of autism

Nope. I used to think so, but I was in a weirdly toxic environment growing up (kids would keep 3ft distance from me, entire grade focused on bullying me, multiple report cards saying "Vitnira does not get along with any of her peers") and this gave me maladapted social skills.
I read books on socialization and overwrote my broken social skills. Now I'm fine. Never had issues with eye contact, I love hugs. No sounds particularly bug me. Everything socially broken was entirely learned and has been unlearned.

I think I have ADHD though but I'll never bother getting it diagnosed. It's the intense focus/inability to focus thing, and going through doorways really screws with me. I have to be actively repeating my thought out loud to keep it through rooms. I kinda thought that was everyone though?

I'm completely autistic, I was clinically diagnosed around 2005 at a very young age and as such have never viewed autism as a negative trait- in fact I use it to my advantage to become the best version of myself possible. I don't have any trouble interacting with people socially or making eye contact, I cruise through life and the world is my oyster!
