Fertilizer is still not being shipped around country:

>>rail carriers have been instructed NOT to ship grains or fertilizer.
>What is this about?

Railways have suddenly "decided" (aka, been ordered by the White House) not to transport fertilizer and grains:

>CF Industries: Union Pacific Curtails Fertilizer Shipments, Delaying Deliveries and Preventing New Rail Orders from Being Taken

>CF Industries Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CF), a leading global manufacturer of hydrogen and nitrogen products, today informed customers it serves by Union Pacific rail lines that railroad-mandated shipping reductions would result in nitrogen fertilizer shipment delays during the spring application season and that it would be unable to accept new rail sales involving Union Pacific for the foreseeable future. The Company understands that it is one of only 30 companies to face these restrictions.

>"The timing of this action by Union Pacific could not come at a worse time for farmers," said Tony Will, president and chief executive officer, CF Industries Holdings, Inc. "Not only will fertilizer be delayed by these shipping restrictions, but additional fertilizer needed to complete spring applications may be unable to reach farmers at all. By placing this arbitrary restriction on just a handful of shippers, Union Pacific is jeopardizing farmers' harvests and increasing the cost of food for consumers."

>On Friday, April 8, 2022, Union Pacific informed CF Industries without advance notice that it was mandating certain shippers to reduce the volume of private cars on its railroad effective immediately. The Company was told to reduce its shipments by nearly 20%.

>On the 25th of April 2022 he bought Twitter
>These dates are 4 years 4 months and 4 days apart
>He also bought Twitter for 44 billion USD
quote is inaccurate (obviously, "tweeter", it actually was "How much is it?" in the context) but otherwise it checks out

Doesn't the US destroy excess crops/limit production to maintain controlled prices? I'm admittedly not very educated in this, but it feels like these Ukraine wheat shortages shouldn't be much of an issue. Couldn't the US seize crop destruction to counter it out?

The food plant fires are admittedly very strange though.

I honestly believe climate change is a lesser issue compared to things like soil erosion. One thing that needs to happen is to provide an alternative to modern agriculture that doesn't rely on centralised technology.
Indeed, soil erosion in the USA has been an issue from the beginning. The colonists did not know to rotate their crops and farming lands, whereas the natives did. But nowadays it is easier to rape the soil dry so long as you have the proper chemicals to artificially inseminate it.

You forgot the biggest threat (aside from climate change)

you're right, also https://www.theguardian.com/environ...fertiliser-crisis-threatens-world-food-supply
>The world faces an "imminent crisis" in the supply of phosphate, a critical fertliser that underpins the world's food supply, scientists have warned.
>Phosphate is an essential mineral for all life on Earth and is added to farmers' fields in huge quantities. But rock phosphate is a finite resource and the biggest supplies are mined in politically unstable places, posing risks to the many countries that have little or no reserves.
>Phosphate use has quadrupled in the last 50 years as the global population has grown and the date when it is estimated to run out gets closer with each new analysis of demand, with some scientists projecting that moment could come as soon as a few decades' time.
but I fear it's all a matter of months, not years or decades, given that "the biggest supplies are mined in politically unstable places" it may also apply to phosphate.
edit: of course it will, main exporter is China.
Top Phosphate Rock-Producing Countries
  • China, 90 million metric tons.
  • Morocco & Western Sahara, 37 million metric tons.
  • United States, 24 million metric tons.
  • Russia, 13 million metric tons.
  • Jordan, 9.2 million metric tons.
  • Saudi Arabia, 6.5 million metric tons.
  • Brazil, 5.5 million metric tons.

The world wastes upwards of 1.2 billion tons of food every year.
A bigger problem then climate change and soil quality worsening is how much fucking food is sent straight to the bin because corporations refuse to hold onto things slightly longer and people have forgotten how to use leftovers.

wasn't aware of the meaning of "pestilence war famine death"
the first horse is supposed to symbolize conquest but apparently "under another interpretation, the first Horseman is called Pestilence, and is associated with infectious disease and plague."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Horsemen_of_the_Apocalypse#As_infectious_disease
"While his horse continued galloping, he was bending his bow in order to spread pestilence abroad. At his back swung the brass quiver filled with poisoned arrows, containing the germs of all diseases."
Covid did conquer the whole world in that sense. So the order checks out, we're in phase 2 with the war in Ukraine that threatens to escalate on 9 May, and we're about to enter phase 3.

edit: interesting thread
>>31764038
>I believe on the 9th of may there is a very large chance the asteroid 2006 JF42 will hit Earth and it will be blamed on Russia's tsunami nuke. I base this on a few predictions of conspiracy theorists such as Damian Galeron which have been pretty accurate about WW3 starting in spring 2022 and have also predicted an asteroid of about 600m diameter hitting Earth creating a megatsunami which will create tidalwaves several hundreds of meters high and wiping out all costal cities on the planet.
>I don't know why they would blame it on the Russians and why the Russians are seemingly willing to take the blame, but it will probably trigger a world war if the megatsunami is thought to be a nuke. From what I can tell it is also conincidentally a very similar magnitude of megatsunami that a La Palma collapse would cause.

>Granted these things that Galeron talk about haven't happened on the predicted months, they are seemingly unfolding nonetheless on a slightly different timescale, however if they are real the asteroid impact will likely be on the 9th.
>I am planning on going to a camping trip in the mountains on the 9th, worst thing if nothing happens is I get some fresh air and some extra exercise.
>>And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood

now this is strange
"Why is biggest baby formula plant in US STILL shut down after three months? Abbott says plant is safe and was not responsible for bacteria that killed two kids - but FDA refuses to reopen it as parents across US struggle to feed their babies"

Virtual Cafe Awards
In the grand scheme of things, a contraction like this is needed to bring down the rickety shantytown that is the modern agricultural supply chain. These crises occur because of fragilities encoded into the system - better it happen this year, agriculture infrastructure adjusts in response to Maize & Soybean futures doubling than it happen ten years from now, the same adjustments in response to widespread famine after the Oglala Aquifier runs barren.
