Every kid has at some point dreamed of possessing abilities that would be deemed supernatural.
I know I did, still to this day there's a small grain of hope within me that something will manifest to break the tedium of modern life.

On my travels through the web as a young dice I saw a video which featured a man purporting to be able to perform such feats, although he humbly states that he is not special and that anyone can do it.

John Chang or Dynamo Jack as he was also called was capable of pushing fragile chopsticks through solid wood, emitting an electrical type of energy, setting fire to newspaper with this energy and could also stop rifle pellets with his bare hands.

I made this thread to collect videos or articles about individuals like John, hoping to either get more information about how exactly they're capable of these achievements or to debunk them as charlatans.

Perhaps we may uncover some secrets along the way.

I remember a >redditcostanzayeahrightsmirk post by a guy who had difficulty inducing any kind of sustained autohypnosis... but he could feel Qi balls in his hands when he practiced those kinds of eastern spiritual exercises. My guesses: 1. the qi exercises take advantage of some physiological effects to make you feel the balls 2. some people are more susceptible to some types of ritual than the synthetic western ritual of "hypnosis" 3. okay, maybe qi is real

What happens if you can't control your Qi?

You would be interested in the concept of cultivation (修炼/修煉) so a state of refined concentration achieved through meditation and qigong exercises that purport to make practitioners able to levitate, complete feats of superhuman strength and reach immortality. As far as I can tell most of these traditions either have a Buddhist Chan root or a "Chinese folk religion" root. All the practices that are compiled in the daoist scriptures come from an incredibly long tradition of folk medicine. All the practices detailed in Chan Buddhist scriptures often find their root in yogi, therefor in India. For example, the "founder" of Buddhism in Tibet, Padmasambhava, was a very famous Indian yogi when he came to China, and his fame as a "dominator" of demons and negative forces preceded him.
That said I believe that a lot of the people who purport to have these powers might seriously believe it, especially if they're very expert meditators. See, if you're particularly good when it comes to controlling your breathing you can reach two states at will, by restricting how much oxygen you intake there's hypoxemia, when it's easy to hallucinate and respond weirdly to stimuli, after all it's kind of a death-lite kind of state in my opinion. If you're into deep breathing meditation then you might reach the opposite state, where the body has too much oxygen, which is kind of the same as before but it if I had to describe it it's kind of like the "body high" of cannabis. So I guess a lot of practitioners, especially a long time ago might've convinced themselves involuntarily of some supernatural cause/effect of practice in general.

You may be interested in the psypog archives, but just know that trying to pursue knowledge on this area is fruitless, some people spend their whole life researching this kind of thing; Others delude themselves into thinking they can do things that they clearly cannot do; They are both wasting their time.

I can attest that some people can do things, and these people form groups, and become extremely aggressive towards any perceived 'competition'. Some people are able to perform small feats like heating up their own hands, these people tend to keep to themselves after one or two bad experiences. Because of this, it's really hard to find information on this both on and offline.

You may have some luck if you join a secret society and it happens to be a real one, but unless you're willing to devote the rest of your life to find knowledge, it's better to forget about it. Even if you do devote your whole life to this, like so many others, you can always never truly find an answer. It's a pointless endeavor.

The first thing I think about when it comes to these "psychic super humans" are those fake martial arts masters who claim to do supernatural shit with their fighting moves.

There was Zen Master Rama, who he and some of his followers not only claimed he could take down foes physically by just only using his voice to shout at them, but also claimed to glow a gold light around him as well as do other supernatural shit.

Then there was James Hydrick, who claimed to utilize telekinetic abilities, using such to flip pages of books and rotate pencils. He claimed that these psychic abilities were derived from his own self-taught martial arts as well as the teachings of a Chinese martial arts master. The dude thought he could teach children these techniques, but the true reason as to why he wanted to teach children out of all people in particular was because he was a pedophile...
