Thoughts on wizchan or lainchan?

I probably started using wizchan and lainchan around 2 and a half years ago, and even though many people said even back then those sites were way past its peak, I still thought those sites were way better than 4chan. That is actually the reason I left 4chan, is because the place started to feel like shit. Although once in a while I still go back to get a peek of how things are, I mostly don't stay long. Probably even when I started using 4chan it was already shit to some people, but when I actually realized it, it was way worse than before.
So I went on a journey to find some good altchan out there. First I found 8kun (which is also shit), 8chan.moe. 8chan.moe at some point used to be not so bad but at some point it just got worse and it seems like only porn addicts go on there. Same thing can be said about 7chan. 420 was interesting, too bad it has been down for more than a month already. It is what got me into Erowid, and going on there and reading people's drug experiences. There is 16chan, which was mostly politics, but people had actual discussions there and were helpful, same thing with 9chan. Too bad, both of them were taken down. Even the onion address too.
And then I found about lainchan. And the first thing I did after I found the same was to watch the anime itself. I'm not sure why I did, maybe to fit in, but people don't even talk about the anime itself that much , but it was good anyways.
So that is when I fell in love with that site, it seemed to me that it actually had a community of some sort. Although once again, sometimes people would talk about the heyday of the site and how it's getting worse, but I didn't care because lainchan looked good to me. So I mostly used that site for the /tech/, /lit/, /music/, /zzz/, and /hum/ boards.
Then I found about wizchan and I also fell in love with that site. I specifically liked the people on there. Because they weren't the people like on regular social media or 4chan. And yet they were different from the people on the incel forums. So I mostly browse that imageboard for the feels. Putting on some dsbm and browsing /dep/ is a nice experience.
Of course I found out about a whole lot more imageboards, but I didn't care for many of them. They just were bland, and uninteresting to me. Here's the list https://controlc.com/3227147f . List also includes Russian imageboards (since I speak the language).

Imageboards in general are way past their hayday, like BBS's and Usenet, the scene that once lived there is long gone.
BBS's now are for nostalgia addicts
Usenet is really just for file sharing
Imageboards are for porn

Exceptions to every rule of course, but you'll waste more time trying to find a good board then any valuable time spent on said found board (if you ever do).

Wizchan has always been a quiet favorite of mine. As are the rest, Lainchan, Uboachan, 420chan, Dreamchan - those niche imageboards can be some of the nicest places online. There's an aura, like a quiet hole in the wall bar you can return to every night.

I think it's good that altchans are still swimming but I liked when they were more lively. Feels like around 2006-2016 4chan had 70% of IB users but these 70% also used altchans. There were more and bigger altchans, that hit the very sweet spot between cosy and fast.
Now it feels like 4chan has 99% if IB users and most of these don't even know altchans are a thing.
