Of course, I am not arguing that; I also reached out to peers from college and, despite not having been in the US for decades now, they feel the need to have a meltdown about a country they will probably never return to, all based on their social media feeds. This particular comment section though felt extremely performative, as if someone had to comment how bad this is, but their actual sentiment behind it was more "whatever," and there is a clear discrepancy between the general tone and the words used, for lack of a better analysis. The guy going "I live in the Twilight Zone now" seemed almost dissapointed, as if he expected something more badass to have occured. I sense many folks are overdramatising their reactions as a form of post-virtuesignalling. Of course, there are people who have genuinely been grinded down by the constant barrage of fearmongering, and it is only reasonable following that input to act in that way.the existence of these kind of emotions is verifiable.
I maintain that the best course of action for these people's mental health is to take the L, continue their bullshit online political activism, and wait until Trump is out of the picture for good, when the world won't have ended and nothing earth-shattering will have happened.
EDIT: I missed sniping, just like Trump's would-be assassin. History repeats itself.
