I watched S2E5 this weekend but forgot to make a post about it. Donna is unnecessarily cruel to Mr. Smith in this episode. First she forces him to go outside, then she steals Laura's diary from him despite the fact that he was willing to share it with her. I guess the audience is supposed to sympathize with her because he's weird and awkward. There's also no way you could cut yourself with a hand cultivator like he does in real life. The trial scenes are pretty funny and I like the idea of Twin Peaks being such a small town that they have to hold court in the roadhouse. Other than that, not a very memorable episode.

I'm actually glad I waited until now to make a post because the first demo for PSX-themed fangame Twin Peaks: Into the Night was released today.

The demo is short but really high-quality for a game made by a two-person team, and it does a good job of recreating scenes from the show while also adding a few twists. I'm looking forward to the full release.

I have to say, I really forgot so much of what happens in Season two. I think we are still in the Lynchian part of the season right now and so each episode has been fantastic. It really gives a vibe of people that are making something they truly love who are fully enjoying the process. I've been really surprised at my love of the supporting characters, I really like the judge and Sid, I think the whole Harold Smith story line is quite fun. It is all very soap opera-y, which is something my wife pointed out to me on my first watching of the series over a decade ago. It is rather funny because I remember as a child that my mother would watch twin peaks and she was also an enormous Guiding Light fan. I even remember having to go to bed so she and my father would watch it. It was on a little too late and it was "too weird" for me, according to them. Something interesting is that the more traditional soap operas, like Guiding Light, may already do the whole "enjoy the process" thing Lynch likes to tout. Guiding Light is still in production and totals at almost 20k episodes that weave in and out of storylines with no particular end in sight. It makes you wonder if what Lynch is really going for is something a bit beyond this since, as far as I can tell, Twin Peaks is a much more enjoyable watch than any old daytime television series. There is something about the series that is special besides the enjoyment of the creative process and this is a part of Lynch's work that seems to be kept secret, at least to some degree.

A good episode overall. Gordon Cole's introduction and Ben and Josie's standoff with the keys are two of the funniest scenes in the series. I liked the symbolism of Truman pouring Cooper a cup of coffee and the implications that Leland isn't such a good guy.

I just picked this back up after stopping over the summer. I am watching S02E7 at the moment. I would like to post some of my thoughts regarding some characters when I have the time/motivation; likely about Audrey and Cooper. They are currently my favorite characters. I am determined to finish the show!
