Unless i'm mistaken it's a case of sublimated androphilia. The boyfriend actually wishes to be dominated by the other man but due to mental conditioning is only able to permit himself to indulge the fantasy by interposing the girlfriend as his own sexual proxy. Classic case of straight guy obliviousness to my eyes but i may be biased.
