I haven't really played this game recently but I did play it a lot and that's satisfactory.

I really hope humanity can one day achieve an era such as this game. The game is all about mining resources on a different planet and building factories of course. My only complaint is that like most games today, I feel like it could use more content. Like I wish it had more weapons and such. This game really lives up to the fantasy of having ANYTHING you want be a DIY project. Want to make your own PC? Your own guitar? You can do it so long as you connect everything properly. It's like farming but metal. I so badly want something like this in real life. Maybe one day.

Try Factorio perhaps? A good portion of it is defence and adjusting towards it. It also has mods so the content is limitless.

I'll absolutely get to it at some point. But, I am a sucker for 3D games. Also, when it comes to weapons in satisfactory it's less about using them for tower defense and more so I wish I can use these in dungeons I found while exploring type of deal. I know the map is fixed but I think it could still work.

with the oblivion remastered drop reminding everyone of elder scrolls, i decided to mod up morrowind and give it another go. been 5+ years since i played that game. theres still that nice feeling of being dropped into a new place and exploring and also that frustration that came with some of the more interesting game design choices. but im having fun. made a mage guy who was supposed go back to balmora for a quest, so i casted almsivi intervention. got plopped into vivec instead.

morrowind is not the best game. a lot of the design choices are clunky and janky and infuriating. the dice roll regarding combat is annoying, no regenerating magicka can be a hassle, having to discern the directions for yourself can be rewarding at times and agonizing at others.

but the world and characters have its charm. i dont think bethesda ever made a world quite like it, one thats so alien and exotic. i dont really get in the zone when im playing morrowind. you cant, not with all the time youll spent just walking. so i like letting the mind wander when i play. think about life and where im going with it as im completing some quest. sometimes i get lost, but thats ok-i just keep walking and passively leveling acrobatics and athletics as i think.

was at gnaar mok. on a mages guild quest, only to realize i was supposed to be at maar gan. whatever, had a quest from some imperial blade to look for some underwater smuggling grotto. looked around, didnt find it, pilfered a dwemer ruin on one of the islands. stopped walking for a bit, saw the view in pic. just sat there staring at it while thinking about life.

the pondering doesnt hit as hard as it did for 17 year old me but its still there.

The same thing happens to me when I'm playing classic WoW, I self a host a server running my own custom class builds and I just wander the world, doing whichever quests I feel like, running whichever dungeons I come across, no stress, no planning ahead, just me and some back-up bots when I'm dungeon delving. It's soothing to sit on the southern coast of Arathi Highlands, fishing, cooking the fish and just letting the ambience overtake me.

update on morrowind, save file got corrupted so had to scrap all of it. 20 hours gone. it happens, guess that could be a sign from the universe to get off my ass and do something worthwhile.
Happened to me with me biggest save file, reason as to why i havent finished morrowind to this day despite loving the game. The game is a lot of slowpaced worldbuilding to sort of get sucked in and wander about that building up all the way back to where you last left is... an agonizing thought. That was many years ago tho so i should give it an earnest shot sometime soon

I made a bet with a friend to finish a certain chunk of my Steam backlog before the end of 2025, and I'm actually doing pretty good! 20 games done so far and 17 more to go.

I'm currently playing Dishonored 2, and I like it better than the first one. Emily's power set is far more conducive to non-lethal gameplay, the movement's generally better, and some levels thus far have had very fun gimmicks. The world and story are still about as interesting as a NaNoWriMo participant's lore document, though. I don't miss this era of games where binary moral choices were all the rage, and half of the dialogue is just "ooh, will you be good or evil?" Get outta here with that shit.

1. Metal Wolf Chaos XD - FromSoft should make more of these instead of endless Soulsborne trash.
2. Umineko: Golden Fantasia
3. Higurashi When They Cry - Chapter 2
4. AI: The Somnium Files
5. Kowloon's Curse: Lost Report - the cyberpunk vibe might appeal to people here, though the writing is pretty trashy.
6. Outer Wilds
7. Risk of Rain 2
8. AI: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative
9. Voidborn - Mediocre in early access form, and I'm not convinced the 1.0 version is much better.
10. q.u.q.
11. Pseudoregalia
12. Library of Ruina - Absurd end-game difficulty spike, but exceptional writing.
13. Hitman: Blood Money
14. Starcraft + Starcraft: Brood War
15. Endless Space 2
16. Yakuza Kiwami
17. Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair
18. Pathologic 2 - between this and Disco Elysium, 2019 was an amazing year for games.

I really enjoyed Dishonered 1&2, i never played death of the outsider. One of the things i was never a huge fan of is high chaos runs = automatic bad ending. I understand the game design choices but sometimes i am not in a mood to be stealthy. Still i really enjoyed both of them and i think Dishonered 2 improved alot over the first game, very sad what became of arkane.

Been enjoying the new TR expansion alot, I wanted to try MGXE but me and my smooth brain had issues getting it working, so i went back to open MW on a newer version, with the iheart vanilla modlist. So i ended up making a new character, a breton named Hernundius Orlenius who is a magical marksman who uses illusion and alteration, i've only just made it into narsis and the enviroments are awesome.screenshot050.pngscreenshot047.pngscreenshot048.png

Playing that fancy young persons video game with my friends, Bauldr's Gate 3.

I don't actually care much for CRPG's, as it feels like a waste to emulate tabletop gameplay instead of playing it irl. I don't even have that much of an attachment to tabletop fantasy RPG's in the first place. Any game you play with friends is a good game though. And I will admit it's very fun playing as Peter Griffin, the drunk monk dwarf, as he accidentally murder-hobo's his way through every faction. I don't think I've had a single main story quest end in a satisfying way and I love it.

I get that feeling 100%, but Elder Scrolls games have always been about the journey and not the destination.

Skyrim has been sold 3 different times on 7 different platforms over 15 years, and I have yet to meet someone who finished the main quest.

You're in luck, because Death of the Outsider doesn't have the Chaos system. If you liked Dishonored 2, it's basically five more hours of that, and I was pretty much checked out halfway through for that reason.

I would not call Dark Messiah of Might and Magic the gold standard of storytelling, but it did a solid job introducing characters and progressively revealing their motivations. They are tried and tested archetypes with a clear purpose and a narrative arc. In Dishonoured, none of the characters are all that compelling. They don't do much in relation to you: they are targets, shopkeeps, and incidental NPCs with backstories attached, and they'll talk their heads off about all the cool stuff they've experienced, but none of this happens in your presence. When you enter the picture, everything is at a standstill. It makes sense when you consider the game's structure, though it hardly excuses the bog standard writing. The Outsider is somewhat of an exception to this issue, so I do like the premise of DotO, even if I didn't care enough to pore through the lore documents.

Then again, when you just got done playing Pathologic 2, 90% of video games look like kiddie shit in comparison.

Otherwise, the Dishonored games are certainly well-crafted. If I was more of a stealth player, I would appreciate them even more. I liked how, despite having an item that tells you exactly where runes and bonecharms are, getting one of them is a mini-puzzle unto itself that gives you an incentive to explore and learn the levels. I hope Prey will make a better impression when I get to that. For now, a friend wants to co-op the Shogun 2 campaign with me.
