It's either playing computer games on the old family PC, the absolute brick still had dial-up and would screech if you so much as attempted to connect to the internet. Or the time when I remember we had just got a gameboy color and I thought I broke my brother's Pokemon Red game because suddenly it was all this weird red tone, which you know; was a "feature" at the time since the older model gameboys couldn't display any color.

There's a picture of me at about 2 years old on the family computer that had Windows 98...

Besides this, probably the times when I would type little stories on Microsoft Word 2003 around the age of 5-6. But I have another memory with a computer that probably explains why I was so suspiciously secretive about what I did on the internet when I was a kid/teenager.

At the age of 6 or so I loved whales. Like, a lot. They were my favourite animals with rabbits and of course, Aral being Aral means I was absolutely obsessed with rabbits and whales. I remember going on google to look for pictures of whales and ending up on a picture of a lady's butt farting out water. Pretty sure it was this one:

It didn't shock me or anything, I was just kinda amused. Enter my mum in the room screaming at me, taking the mouse closing the browser, and basically scolding me quite harshly. She said that "she saw a picture that isn't for me" and that there are a lot of sites that could shock me. She was always mega protective of me especially when it came to sexual stuff, always scared that I'd end up getting touched innapropriately, see porn, get groomed by an online pedo or get raped (when I was a tween she said that if I talked about sex at school, boys would see me as a slut and would rape me), to the point I ended up being super ashamed of my sexuality and repressing it up until I was 20/21 or so. Hell is paved with good intentions.

For all the reminder of my childhood and teen years I was absolutely PANICKED whenever someone saw what I was doing on the internet. I kinda had nothing suspicious or illegal/bad to hide, but still, I remember being utterly terrified every time my parents would touch my computer. It calmed down as I aged, but I still am a little on edge. I was also quite uncomfortable every time my mum grabbed the mouse while I was in front of the computer. It hasn't happened in many, many years, but still, I remember how uncomfortable I was each time.

This shit - https://hey.georgie.nu/screenmates/

I remember my dad had this old-ass laptop with one of those thinkpad buttons in the middle that was used as a mouse alongside the trackpad. He had all these Family Guy and South Park "screenmates" and I spent so many weekend hours just observing them and interacting with them. I have a super vivid memory of a Bruce Lee screenmate that, once you clicked on it, broke a wooden board with a sidekick and went "BRISK! BABY!" before an ad for Brisk Iced Tea showed up on the screen. So bizarre. Good memories.

Trying to watch people play Donkey Kong in the really early 90's on this arcade machine in a diner near my house long before I even knew what a video game was. I wasn't tall enough to see the actual screen and thought people were inserting a quarter to watch a short cartoon play out because of the DK graphics on the side of the cabinet.

I'd initially think when I got my Nintendo DS when I was a kid would be one, but I have a more interesting one that may have been before or after, but it's probably one that sticks out to me the most. I was about five or six years old, and I'd stumbled upon my Dad playing this game all of a sudden, and I just watched and begged him to let me try, this might have happened a few times and he let me play just once. It was a point and click adventure game called The Neverhood, and what I remember most is going down a ladder and getting stuck on what to do in this area.

This specific image was one of the most vivid 'image' memories I ever had, but as I got older I couldn't place where it came from and it really just stayed in the back of my mind until a year or two ago I stumbled on this picture on Google Images. As a kid, I remember though it interesting to finally play the game, I was also very unnerved. The character walked weird and goofy, I could not figure out how to do anything, and this scene just looks so surreal and void. I really dig it now though
I don't know if this would be my first tech memory but it is my favourite.

Going onto my father's desktop computer running XP and attempting to look up "lego dalek" but misspelling it horribly due to my young age. With some help, I did end up finding lego dalek videos on YouTube.

some early ones. my cousin had Mortal Kombat on sega CD....my dad drove an 88 mitsubishi mirage i think, with a cassette player. i remember getting a demo disc of FF7 in a magazine. i had no idea what a playstation even was so i put it in a PC and there was some kind of other game on there. nothing final fantasy related, it was like chess or something crazy like that.

i remember playing windows 98 pack in games with my sister. i remember getting cable-baed internet. we never had dial up, we went straight to cable. we had Road Runner. not sure how that worked or the liscencing and such. but the Road runner from looney ttunes was the logo. when you signed in it played the road runner sound

So weird you bring up The Neverhood, I was literally just thinking about it a few hours ago. Then I come here and see you post about it. Also, that's definitely a pretty cool memory as well.

When I was really little, probably 4 or maybe 5, I got really scared one day by the idea that eventually time would stop. Like, after a certain number of days or seconds or whatever, you would reach the maximum, and there wouldn't be any more left. I told my dad and that night he brought me down to the basement where his computers were (this was the early 90's, pre-internet, so computers weren't exactly household appliances yet, but he had them for work), and he wrote something to the effect of
int main() { for (int i = 0;; ) printf("%d\n", i++); }
and ran it to show how you could keep on counting and counting and the numbers would never run out :NekoNatsukiWow:

It's one of my favorite memories, I still get choked up thinking about it

ALSO, there are earlier tech related things that I have a more vague recollection of than this but this really sticks out as a solid memory im never going to forget.

When I was 7 or so I had gone to bed and my fathers brother(my uncle) came over to hang w my parents(i think they were smoking pot). I got woken up in my sleep that night by my mom who asked me to come out and help them finish this particularly vexxing part of Zelda 2. I did it. I remember how happy I was that they wanted my help AND that they were into what I was into.

I got to stay up late w them all that night and make tracks on excitebike and race them.

its a really good memory, one of quite few

Hmm, I think my first tech related memory is of a computer at a youth centre that I was going for something like Sunday School.
There some kids would play Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, although back then I was more interested in playing ping-pong than play with the computer.

Watching an older family friend play Space Quest on his PC. He would fire it up and play through the game just for me because I loved watching him do it so much. I could remember this one part where there is a giant spider and you have to push a rock from a ledge to squish it. You typed "PUSH ROCK" into the text parser, but you had to wait until the spider was in position before you hit enter. It was a real nail biter as a small child.
