What's your favorite Vaporwave subgenre and why is it your favorite? You can pick multiple.

My favorite subgenre is probably mallsoft, I just really find it to be comfortable, easy listening. It's the ideal music to work or study to, it doesn't take a lot of focus, but there's still more to it than just background noise, it stands on its own. I think the samples musical artists choose can also show you a lot about their idea of what a grocery store, shopping mall, or lobby is and I think that's interesting. It's nice knowing what people are nostalgic about.

Signalwave is also very much a favorite subgenre for me, for similar reasons. It's comfortable, and I like how the segments of just ads can break up music. When I was younger I would sometimes turn the TV on to public access networks while I read or did homework. I wouldn't pay attention to it, I'd just have it there to be something to listen to. Signalwave is more than just turning a TV on and letting it play while you read or study, but the feeling is similar, familiar, and comfortable.

I love signalwave too. Can't say I'm a big fan of the Asutenki projects that go on for an hour+, but those sweet spot albums that are 5-15 minutes and focus on quality are great. The album I linked is a project like that I found, it's a great listen and I'd love to hear about signalwave albums you like.

PepSiDawgwitcan That's a great album, I think weather-themed signalwave is super comfy. It's definitely great quality and it's got good direction, it feels like every song on the album is necessary. I do like longer albums with "filler" songs, but it's nice to hear something different. Thanks for linking!

here's some albums I like, there's 5 here but one only showed as a link rather than as a media item oops

Naturewave baby, but anything Desert Sand Feels Warm at night or Lindsheaven Virtual Plaza is great.

Signalwave is so interesting and unique, I can help but be fascinated by it every time I come in contact with it. Theres so much that can come from the manipulations of old advertisements and tv shows due to its unique untapped potential as, to my knowledge, no other musical movement does this, at least to the same extent. It evokes nostalgia in the passing interest, however small, of a mundane thing seen on TV in your childhood to such an unexpected extent that it exemplifies that even the smallest details of life can be seen as beautiful. It just brings you right back, you know?

Thank you for sharing, the scenery and identity crises albums are both now on my buying list. Both get into the style of signal wave that I enjoy.

I love Future Funk. The loud and fast music with City Pop overtones makes me want to grab a drink and party all night. I don't have anyone to dance with though. Otherwise, I like anything that has a catchy beat and some cool samples.
