worlds.com is a chat mmo from 1995 that's still functional today. it's really hard to register an account, i had to borrow one from a friend but it has a lot of notoriety for weird cults and early internet stuff. i'm going to catalog my adventures here.

i went straight to a nexus of archived worlds and right off the bat the only active player (everyone in the room is sleeping) has been following me around and teleporting in front of me

Honestly, we should make a thread that lists any old, obsucre, dying, and niche MMO games that are currently hanging on a thread and catagorize them based on the status and state of game. Would be interesting to see how many people will bring up such games we never even heard of.

yeah, there are a lot of sleeping avatars. the guy who followed me around was talking in spanish to another guy for a minute or two before going inactive. so far i've only seen like 4 active players. tonight i'll be home and i'll play on my main with better screenshots

player doesn't work. i had to download a version of the player off internet archive and then as if that wasn't hard enough, i couldn't register and had to borrow an account.

the amount of secrecy and steps needed to get in is really odd. if anyone wants to try to register you can do it here

I'm home now and found a less buggy version of the player, i should be able to find much more interesting locations because all custom world textures were broken.
