Kiwi Farms seems to have taken a little interest in 'Neocities and the Yesterweb'. I'm not linking to it out of respect to Agora Road, not as an admonishment of KF.
While we're on the subject of "feisty" places, lolcow.farm also has threads (
one &
two) discussing similar. I've mentioned them in passing before, but I'm taking the opportunity to pool all these places together here.
Finally, you can find sporadic (generally non-organized) discussions on 4chan that are in a similar vein. I typically just search
desuarchive.org out of convenience.
I think the intention of the 2 farms is pretty clear: "farming funny". They are critical of quite a few things in the groups; they make fun of things. But it seems to just be discussion, though "intense" discussion. I'd describe lolcow as less intense and KF as not too far removed from the discussion of autonomy on the web, given its struggle ofc.
4chan is a little more (and less) interesting. Yes, they discuss "intensely" as well, much more randomly: both in terms of individual posts AND individual threads. But sometimes you'll see them try to... "do something". In the past month 4chan (or at least /g/) has "built" 2 webrings... arguably.
