Your University is working together with 4chan moderators

Didn't know this really, but lots of universities do actually spy on student web traffic. One of those sites, 4chan, is apparently a huge fucking attractor for schools to stalk the everliving fuck out of their own students.

I'm not fucking joking. Somehow 4chan (and possibly other ibs, maybe even this one, hell if I know) has affiliations with universities when it comes to student information. How this information is obtained or is actually truthful, I'm not sure. But anyways, my university decides to work with these people in order to stalk their own students, for whatever reason. At some point I had my email breached in a data leak, some /g/ assholes got to it, and I basically continued to associate with the site out of some desperate attempt to save my ass. The entire experience was traumatizing, unwanted, and panic-inducing.

I'm not joking, instead of my university speaking to me about my web traffic, they decide to handle it in the most inappropriate way a person can imagine; they cyberstalked me, harassed me in real life using the information obtained and acted like the rapiest scum you will ever have the misfortune of coming across.

There are posts on Crystal.Cafe and /r9k/ where literal faculty members interact with me. They continue to stalk me in real life and online, I have no idea how to handle this because it's gotten this deep, and I want to kill myself on a daily basis because I am dealing with administrative abuse and not some mental health insanity.

Anyways, for anyone reading this that actually gives a shit about their privacy - online college is probably superior. If you use a major ib like 4chan or any other ib, there's a likelihood your college will use this information against you. There's a chance that online stalking can escalate to real life stalking, and a chance that a uni you attend will be the one to do this to you.

People do not give a shit about other people's privacy and it will drive someone to suicide one day. People will escalate online stalking to real life stalking. It's actually kind of insane and creepy.

I mainly wish they would scrub posts from CC and /r9k/ where faculty members try to interact with me because it creeps me the hell out. And they would just stop trying to interact with/engage with/talk about me online.

Real life harassment is so much different than online shit, and well, universities want to harass you in real life. It's really. Creepy. And this will drive someone to suicide one day, so I hope the faculty members involved can go sound asleep at night knowing this.

Oh and. It's really easy to laugh at or shrug harassing someone off in a group. But it's pathetic as hell and spineless. I genuinely hope they realize how fucking traumatizing this shit is and, christ, the fact that I have to elucidate this notion for such people in the first place. Their group needs to get fucking harassed by one bigger than them for a moment, it's fucking pathetic

I wanted to make this post before I forget and its such a funny coincidence I dont even care about doxxing where I go to school. A couple months ago on my schools subreddit I saw this post by a throwaway account around the same time I saw this agora post and I thought it was eerily similar. I found the original anon post on on some blog called afternoon dynu (post deleted now) and it was posted within a day or two of this >reddit post

im (20F) an incoming transfer and will be moving in for the winter semester in like almost a week. I don't want to get too much into the details cause a lot of it is embarrassing/shameful and spilling too much could be unsafe in other ways. But I was stupid enough to reveal that im going to *school* on a certain (pseudo)anonymous forum with a poor reputation where i have a particular and well-known persona. Two people claimed they attended *school* and thought it'd be funny to find one of my dating app profiles (but were ""kind"" enough to not post full screenshots but snippets of them to prove they found them). One of them proceeded to say they're a grad student and will try to TA in a class they think im going to take as a new student in an attempt to actually find me IRL, and im pretty sure im going to be taking two of the possible classes they were referring to.

im not sure if i should take this seriously or just as an empty threat by a troll. It's not hard to change your location to find someone's dating app profile, nor find out what classes new students of certain majors typically take. But also in my experience doing such a thing as fast as they did would be too much effort for most trolls so that suggests they are actually in *town* and knowledgeable about my program. Also, them saying that managed to get a bunch of incels to go "wow, that's creepy wtf man" and i dont think the internet's grossest neckbeards would say that if they thought it was a stupid troll (no i will not explain why i, a 20 year old female feminist with a job and education would be on an old incel neet forum, use your imagination). But also it just seems really far-fetched and also statistically improbable given how many people take the class. The fact *school* is such a large school also would suggest that maybe this is probably not going to happen. I don't really know what to think of it. It was a month or so ago so maybe theyve just forgot? But on the other hand people on that particular website regularly tell me that they want to rape and impregnate me so idfk maybe it's a bigger deal than i think.

If this user is telling the truth and did find me that would be a really big safety issue for me i think, even if they're like not a rapist or stalker it would open the door to other rapists and stalkers to know my whereabouts. My real identity has not been shared on that platform and I would like to keep it that way if I can.

i guess my main question other than if it actually seems like something to worry about is what i should prepare to do if it turns out to actually happen? I can take screenshots of the discussion if i must, they are on multiple public archives forever.

edit: i got the screenshots both of the person saying they'll possibly TA a class specifically to "meet this bitch" and also proof they found my dating app profile, as well as the second person. Wont post them here for a lot of reasons, but its important to note they didn't actually claim to be a GSI but just a student. Thats a really important detail so I really should've went looking for that prior to making this thread. But also it took a lot of effort to find it because i have to write a program to scrape and scour a months worth of archived forums posts because i was unable to find it manually. Sorry

yeah it is 4chan. It seems I did a bad job hiding that. By "semi-anon" I mean I have a triptag which is a way of confirming ones identity on the old japanese-style anonymous forums with an encrypted string of characters. Its like having a username without an account login. Which I do because people liked to impersonate me. The vast majority of 4chan is anonymous users.

that's difficult since they're anonymous. Unlike web 2.0 platforms like >reddit facebook or snapchat You cant really just track 4chan users unless under specific situations. You know how like sometimes you might edit a Wikipedia article without making an account? Same idea. Its IP based not account based. Thats why a lot of terrible people use the platform.

id have to go check, im mostly going off memory. They may not have even used either of those. Its taking a while to find the specific convo since people talk to/about me a lot so I have to scour a lot of the archives. I did find the person who proved to have found my dating app profile though. But im still looking because I probably should have the screenshots anyways.

I think i found the person in the 4chan archives on r9k under the tripcode !!NeNts1TiwYI and I guess they are kind of a weirdo 4chan celebrity named puppynon and i found a bunch of details they mentioned about their age, major (which is a slightly niche one offered at my school), and how they transferred to this school which all matches up exactly with the >reddit post. They also mentioned some details about the schools location and stuff which also matched up. So, im very confident the 4chan user is the same as the >reddit user and pretty confident (though slightly less) they are also the person who made the post andy copied. The dates of the blog post and >reddit post were pretty damning with how close they were when i first looked i just cant see the og blog post date anymore. They are also transgender by the way.


But yeah all that to say im pretty sure I go to school with that schizo

Last archived post I see was on October 3rd 2024, the oldest post I saw was on September 9th 2024. Not too surprised they are trans, I can just tell by the way they type that they are trans or femboy. Surprised it was FtM instead of MtF, at least from what I'm seeing on the archives. I genuinely thought it was a MtF at first, until I read further, due to the typing style. Other than that, honestly not very interesting at all. Either this user is just a schizo rather than an expected lolcow, or there's something I'm missing, probably both. Essentially all of the posts are in /lgbt/.

Ah that explains a lot, I figured they just disappeared until now. 3530 posts minimum, going back over 30 pages. Not gonna read all of that odds are, too lazy to do so.

I don't get the purpose of posting with a tripcode on a site like 4chan, given it's meant to be an anonymous imageboard but it also isn't small enough to the point where there's literally no reason to not use a tripcode (such as an imageboard for frens only). It makes it incredibly easy to track someone via stuff like this on something meant to be entirely anonymous to the other users, whereas normally, i'd have to analyze typing styles and then many other details, and for all I know, someone could've just figured out how to talk like you in order to "impersonate" you. You could use a seperate tripcode per-thread, if you're desperate to stay indentifiable but also aren't posting on a board with user IDs already there. I'd presume, as said previously, it's main purpose is to avoid getting impersonated, but even then it isn't always necessary.

I think the people that use tripcodes use the site for an entirely different reason than the anons. Its like they are so lonely they dont even have internet friends so they resort to doing something that is bound to get attention from others since its so weird to use a tripcode anyone who does will get noticed. I bet if everyone was forced to use a tripcode those types of people wouldnt even use the site cuz they wouldnt be special anymore. And to worry about someone impersonating you is so stupid because if you are anon theres nobody to impersonate lol.

Anyways, I didnt even realize they were ftm i also assumed mtf, and now that makes me wonder if they arent actually the person from >reddit since they said "im (20F)". But everyone on 4chan seemed to treat them like a girl and maybe they said they are F so the threats would make more sense. Idk, im still pretty sure its them.

You are right thats my bad, you can imagine how wild it was to see that post in my schools mostly dead subreddit after seeing this thread. it was too crazy a coincidence I couldnt resist going OSINT mode to confirm

And by the way the person made another post a month ago and while I think they are just being paranoid schizo, a lot of nice people helped them get help and support resources
