Tautologies and redundancy: how to avoid making low quality "smart" posts

A lot of this month's newfriends are making the same mistake: verbosity is not a skill. To best express yourself, use fewer and smaller words.

Here are some examples of superfluous terms / padding words / tautologies:

• "Really really annoying"
• "Exact duplicate"
• "Divide exactly in half"
• "Different varieties"
• "Annoying newfag"

Consider instead

• "Annoying"
• "Duplicate"
• "Halving"
• "Varieties"
• "Newfriend"

Try to reduce the words you use and pay close attention to tautologies (saying the same thing twice). Your future readers will thank you.

I think another tip for newbs is think about the people reading your post and what they're going to get out of it. The posts I like the least are long, rambling, and get away from their point several times. The posters I like the least do this consistently. Sometimes tangents can add to a conversation but they need to be chosen well, like those anthology book collections with an overarching plot.

I don't mind reading but if I'm going to read you better make it worth it.

I really really appreciate your very helpful post. I type like this constantly all the time and it's really starting to become obnoxiously annoying. Moving forward, in the future, I'll try really hard to try my best to avoid typing like this. It might take some time to explore and try to find different varieites in my time o-

I still don't like newfag but it conveys my feelings better than newfriend. As long as there is no better alternative, i will continue to use newfag.
