What image is in your head when you're listening to vapowave?

For me it's usually a busy morning in New York, with people in suits going to work and busy offices, but i recon many people think about a leisure day in California, so i was wondering what do you guys imagine when listening to vaporwave?

Hmm... yeah i completely forgot about the subgenres, now that you mention it mallsoft was my favorite for a long time, i always imagined a big greek-style fountain in the middle of a giant 80's mall, and i would always lay next to it and just listen to life happening around me.

Swing Tournament by US Golf 95 sounds like an old golf computer game for Windows 98/XP. (Later I realised there's Microsoft Golf 1998)

But most vaporwave songs, especially the og slow+reverb 80s music, makes me picture this Virtual Reality world from Married With Children. Just a large, low quality 3D room.

Perhaps this is a bit boring of me, but when I conjure up an image in my head when listening (if at all), it's usually just the album art, since it tends to match the tone of the music well enough.

The exception to this is if I've happened to see a music video for a specific song (fan-made or otherwise), in which case I'll just sort of replay it in my mind.

This happens to me sometimes, as my perceptions of the genre are slowly changing (in a good way). Unlike other genres of music, for me Vapowave exists in a very strange and liminal place, so what I visualize is quite loose, but always hovers around the motif of idealizing technology when it causes more problems than solutions.

Places that have the vibes of these comes to mind, of old family gatherings and wood paneled homes that smell of smoke and ash. Of the old family video store me and my dad would go to before it closed down due to not enough customers.
It's all vivid and warm.
