While I burned you turned your head,
While I cried alone,
you had your family,
While I was suffering you were living your life,
I burned and you prospered.

You treat me like trash now;
I'm free, but were you here for me?
No instead you look away,
I loved you at one point,
turning grey and stale.

While you loved your son,
you left me to die,
you treat me rudely,
so how can things go smoothly?

While you ate what you wanted,
I suffered spiritually,
While I burned you prospered,
While you lived your life,
I was burning in strife.

I loved you,
but now I hate you.

I read a poem similar to this from the perspective of a mother whos husband grew fat while she physically wasted away, concerned with maintaining beauty standards. In many ways it was her choice to conform to the standard but also an unrealistic expectation set by her surroundings. A strange world.
