I thought some more on this thing while i was at the gym, it reminded me the bike/talent show episode of black mirror. What if such technology doesn't let us skip ads and force us to look at the ads in the future, think of yt premium, what if the eye trackers track ur eyes and stop the ad and the skipping progress unless you specifically look at the ad itself. since they released this to the consumer marketplace i think it will gain mainstream use by the 4th gen once they fully resolve the problem with the battery and already have special apps that would attract consumers, as in iphones. I remember back in the day before iphone 4, the people who had iphone 3gs and all used to have all these gimmiciky funky apps, later came whatsapp, which revolutionised messaging, and many other apps that we must use daily in order to have a functioning life. Remember the iphone 4 madness?

I used to use an old phone with a keypad, it was called sony k700i, i also had a smartphone at the time but i felt free whenever i used that phone since i had no distractions and such, only the doom turnbased game, calls and sms, i only used my smartphone on the weekends to check whatsapp and such, but then, first they closed access to 3g on old phones in my county (for no reason at all it worked great and i used a simple opera browser to look up articles and bus times), then they blocked the mms, and now since we need to access many data its impossible for me to not use a smartphone, this also happened to many of my perfectly working old devices, although they worked without any problems with the software, companies slowly release updates only to block access to some services. Even when everything works great, they always find a way to force you to the new thing. It was 2020 i think, the last time i used that old phone, and i've never been as happy as i was before. It will get worse, and places like these will be the only outlets in which we will try to find peace and quiet, away from all the endless mind numbing content that the machine feeds us. i simply hope that this feeding will not be a force feed like i mentioned.

What the fuck did just happen?? I opened this thread 30mins ago and now my entire feed on YouTube is filled with this garbage about the new iToddler glasses! Unbe-fucking-liveable. And I'm not even interested in tech channels and didn't clicked any links in this Thread!
yea cus it's now the hot new piece of tech because it's a first gen apple product which makes tech bros lose their shit and has tech channels milk it's announcement for every drop of content and views

No offence to the model but could they have found someone with less scary teeth, it's bad when the model actively makes you want to look away from your product
They are just making it clear it's a diverse dystopia. The model looks like as though she could be a she, a he, or anything in between. That is probably very much on purpose. They ticked all the boxes while missing the target market. Older white men looking for porn in 5D. Less this girl, more Costanza.

I don't care about this apple stuff, i've never bought an apple product and i don't want to, all this situation just seem like another first world problem people in developed nations can afford to complaint about, if i'm being honest, in general, i do actually enjoy living in a dystopia.

I swear, every time there's some new technology people are like "welcome to the dystopia"
Didn't we already get here years ago? Hell, this shit just looks like Apple's take on Google Glass!

People over 25 years old sees every single big tech product as the "Next Dystopia" agora road has one of these every week that it, is so common that at this point doesn't feel important anymore lmao, big tech is gonna announce something after this, and we are gonna be claiming "THE DYSTOPIA IS HERE" even tho it said dystopia has been claimed 27 threads ago

I'm hedging my bets on them pawning these off to schools and businesses under the various pretenses the idiots we call higher-ups always fall victim for (productivity, future-proofing, etc). Maybe businesses will start assigning the future annual iterations of devices like these, if this takes off in any measure, to their work-from-home employees so they can attend their virtual meetings or whatever.
All I can think is, when you wear those for an extended period of time, when you take them off, they'll leave an imprint, like after wearing diving goggles; You're gonna have a red ring around your eyes. Imagine sitting on the underground train, evening rushhour and the car is full of people, in business casual I might add, who look like they just came back from scuba diving. And everyone would act like it's normal. It would be a sight to see.

Lol, this appeals only to middle-class gadget guys. Even if it weren't so expensive I don't think people would bother. Reminds me of this old thing

Apple has a new headset. Will either flop hard or all the iSheep will be wearing them and be more annoying than ever. I hope it flops. I really don't want to live in this nightmare they are building.

My wife and I were talking about it. It seems ridiculous to us in our bungalow with a big yard in the suburbs, but we pretty well agreed that apartments will get smaller and smaller in large urban centers to the point where you just have room in your little living space for a bed and maybe a chair. Under those living conditions where you have no space to sit on the couch and just watch TV, this would be a hot commodity. Put the glasses on and instead of watching your favourite show on your phone screen on your twin bed in your 8x8 New York City apartment with a shared bathroom, you're watching it in a spacious log cabin in the country with a roaring fireplace. I think its success will hinge on how convincing it is at creating that kind of ambient environment.

I agree that it is very dystopian.

VR bros on their way to try to convince you to drop several thousand dollars on a headset and/or rig because "the tech is in its infancy" and "it's only going to get better/cheaper."
(Commercial VR tech is over 20 years old and has been little more than an expensive novelty with few exceptions)
