I found this video great. It explains what happened to those mobile games and how advanced were mobile phones in Japan in comparison to west back then and some of them were part of established game series like Professor Layton and Shin Megami Tensei. There are dedicated communities that they try to archive all that stuff, despite any difficulties of Japanese copyright laws and some game companies released their games on modern platforms and PCs. There is so much lost media from that time not limited to region exclusive video games, but in design and technology as well.
