Spotted in Tokyo: Vaporwave music archives 2009 - 2019

Found this in a record store in Tokyo. I think this is cool: I don't really see much acknowledgement or vaporwave in the "real world" so the fact that there is listing of essential vaporwave albums in print in Japan of all places is pretty neat. Conversely, when I was flicking through a book on citypop from a different record store I also saw a picture of Floral Shoppe included, which I think might be referencing the essential role that the vaporwave scene had in reintroducing citypop to modern listeners (to my understanding anyway).

Does anyone have a copy of this archive or know of any scans online? I didn't buy it just in case its already out there, but I could always go back and get it I suppose.

I tried finding it. All I could find was a few tweets and Instagram posts regarding the item in question. I admire your restraint in not impulse buying though. I would have swooped that up in a heartbeat, mostly to ensure it is safe in my care and not lost forever, albeit at the dismay of my wallet lol.

Valid. I was interested in seeing if they had any copies in English out there but yeah looks like it's just Japanese, which is honestly more aesthetic anyway. I'm a little short for cash but I feel like I'd regret missing out on this, I'll post if I do get it.

Perhaps our good friend @vaporwavemaster1 might have seen it floating around as well. 渋谷のディスクユニオンで見つけました。

Honestly I almost want it even just as a shelf piece. Seeing vaporwave content in real life is rare, and it looks really cool.

I went back to have a look at it and managed to see the table of contents and some of the interior. It's actually way more than just an archive; it's got essays, the history of vaporwave split into multiple periods, a cool glossary of vaporwave terms, and a lot else besides.

Even though it's super dope, it's just impossible for me to justify getting something written entirely in a language I can't read. Maybe if I ever finally get round to learning Japanese it might be worth purchasing, but for now I'll leave it someone who can read/appreciate it more than I can.

I ended up putting together a visual adaptation of the mixed compilation but I haven't managed to identify all the featured tracks: 捨てアカ - sute_aca Vaporwave Mix CD For DU Books Giveaway

Haha I suppose my name sounds like "the one who is expert in the history of vaporwave" lol. The truth is, I chose this username because I'm a history major and I like vaporwave separately haha.
