hello
any amount of movement is the right movement. I aim to walk 3 miles 4 days a week, but some weeks I feel lazy and that's okay toohm, what about quick walk instead of running?

My lifts are pretty similar (assuming youre not repping that shit like crazy) and I feel like Im getting good results. I do substitute deads for kettlebell work because I just dont like deadlifts. It's a big part of the program that you SHOULD start working at a weight thats on the lighter side. Last set is AMRAP so it goes to your "limit". 5/3/1 has a million variations but if you dont enjoy it you just dont enjoy it. I've tried the program before but this time it just clicked for me. Its hard to get something with a good flow honestly.i tried that for a year and absolutely hated it, but probably because my numbers weren't where they should have been to warrant doing that program. My squat was at like 285lbs and deadlift at 315lbs.
i just never felt like any of the lifts were pushing me to my limit
Do something more mentally stimulating. Instead of running, ride a bicycle or play basketball, something like that.Anyone got a way to make me not hate cardio? All I want to do is lift and I have to force myself to run everyday.
What you're doing sounds good and sufficient to lose weight, it's mostly diet, but yours looks fine. Yeah the alcohol will get you with weight gain, just too easy with beers. I'm trying to drink less too. I'm unfortunately a slave to nicotine, but I'm trying to not smoke during the week and only during drinks. I also exercise in cardio and weight lifting to try offset it a bit.good thread. i've always been into cardio (swimming/running) but my diet's fluctuated a lot and i was boozing up way too much. i'm talking a 6 pack of beer everyday for probably the last 6 months. i've quit cold turkey as of last week and have been ramping up my swimming frequency. i do minimum 2km each time but try to push it every now and then. trying to get my 10000 steps a day in on top of that. have also fixed up my diet. never been much of an eater but now i'm mostly eating fruits/vegetables/salmon/chicken, no eating out whatsoever. only liquids are water and black coffee.
just hoping to burn some fat really. technically my BMI is 26 and if i lost 2-3kg i'd be categorised as "healthy" but that doesn't seem like anything to celebrate. anyone who has advice, feel free to hit me up/reply.
I have done zero research into this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that nicotine decreased hunger and the main worry was the weight gain upon quitting nicotineI'm unfortunately a slave to nicotine, but I'm trying to not smoke during the week and only during drinks. Yes this is true. I think my post was a bit confusing - I'm not overweight or trying to avoid weight gain. I exercise to try offset the damage that smoking does and keep myself healthy in every other way lol. If anything, not smoking during the week is helpful for gaining weight, eating for muscle, etc.I have done zero research into this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that nicotine decreased hunger and the main worry was the weight gain upon quitting nicotine
hah, i'm the same for nicotine. i used to be a pack a day smoker but then swapped to vaping and hooked on that now. i have a similar mentality to you where i'm trying to make up for it by being healthy everywhere else but i know i shouldn't be doing it. oh well, can't be perfect; everyone has their viceWhat you're doing sounds good and sufficient to lose weight, it's mostly diet, but yours looks fine. just coffee as pre-workout, but yeah I think it makes me feel more energized lifting heavyYou guys take pre-workout? I've been off the stuff for a month and my numbers are about the same but I don't feel nearly as tuned in as when i would take it. Feels a lot more flat but I probably just need to readjust and try to find my flow state a little better.
If you run a bunch without getting injured you should already be pretty strong. That said, if weights aren't working, just do daily sets of pushups basically. Start with like 5x10, and then increase sets. Works pretty well for upper body as a runner.give me some calisthenic tips
i dont need to try. its just one of the things i naturally love doing. i put on the headphones, pull up some tunes and run. weightlifting was the same, until the industry fed me slop instead of actual advice and the demoralizers insisted i should give it all up if im not a certain height and the prices got higher and higher and crowded gyms became more and more annoying and the irritation of every gym around me being some shitty commercial variant with only one squat rack grew more and more. so i stopped. and i kept running and did chin ups and push ups instead.how do you really get motivation for it?
I understand not wanting to go to the gay mecca the gym can be. Check out what prisoners do. Charles Bronson wrote a book about how he stayed jacked in solitary confinement. It helps a lot to keep track of your numbers even if every set is max effort.anyways give me some calisthenic tips. gym membership prices are outrageous, autistically obsessing over form gets tiresome and ive had a lack of progress with weights no matter how hard i try. my go to strategy so far has been "do as many chin ups and push ups as physically possible until failure".
This has continued to go well, thankfully. I did the power zone discovery program a while back and now those are basically the only classes I do, twice weekly on the rest days of the above program. The things are stupid expensive, but definitely worth it if you use it.So I recently got a Peloton for free from a family member who is no long able to use it due to health reasons. I gotta say, it lives up to the hype. I used to go to a spin class at my gym 2+ times per week before moving, but where I am now I'd have to have one gym membership for lifting and another for any type of classes - both of which are way more expensive than what I was paying before. Sucks to pay $44 per month, but the classes are legit and I'm very pleased so far.
Gotta admit that I've come to love zyn. The rules I have for myself to avoid getting addicted are to never have it two days in a row and never buy a new pack until the one I have is used up. I've gotten increasingly sketched out by vaping over the years as all these disposable ones come from China and there's all kinds of weird heavy metals found in them - not just lead but uranium too.hah, i'm the same for nicotine. i used to be a pack a day smoker but then swapped to vaping and hooked on that now. i have a similar mentality to you where i'm trying to make up for it by being healthy everywhere else but i know i shouldn't be doing it. oh well, can't be perfect; everyone has their vice
Only on days when I'm feeling drained but need to get through a workout, maybe once every week or two. I drink so much coffee as it is that I feel like it's a bad idea to start mega dosing caffeine 5 days a week on top of that. Been using Gorilla Mode but kinda hate the taste and would like to switch it up next time I buy. Any suggestions? You guys take pre-workout? Man I've tried getting into zyns but they just burn me so much, stomach feels like shit. Might be too much nicotine for me to handle honestly.View attachment 97468
