I will write a blog post about this soon, but I'm doing a school project where I image two fleets of laptops.
One of the fleets is a bunch of ASUS R417NA laptops designed to run old versions of Windows 10. I put Windows 8.1 on them (Ew, I know, but I did some hacks to make it usable) because I wanted a slight downgrade for more performance but there was legit no drivers that worked for the trackpad and it didn't even show up in device manager. I went through every possible fix to no avail.
Now I'm putting the latest version of Windows 10 on them just to see how bad it is and it's pretty laggy but at least the trackpad works.
It's pretty well established that a lot of loyalists fled the original colonies for Canada during and after The Revolutionary War. It's a non-trivial factor as to why Canada has such a younger sibling "Ackhhh-shually we're BETTER than the US!" complex. Canadians trip over themselves to find ways to describe their supposed superiority over Americans, meanwhile Americans barely ever think about Canadians.
