100% Based God Tier OST. Hit me so hard after all these years again I did a remix of it I'm going to use in my podcast.

Die Tür (with Mads Mikkelsen)
Movie in German about time travel, lots of murder and themes of a father's regret about not being a good parent. I watched it with my gf, and we both enjoyed it. Weird and clichéd plot and some of the writing choices were very odd, but compelling story altogether. The camerawork was noticeably good, shot like a horror movie to set a threatening vibe all through the slower parts of the film.

It reminded me a lot of Dark (TV series), but isn't as good as that obviously. If you liked Dark you'll enjoy this, maybe with some beers and a few mates.

The issue with the new Doctor Strange is just that it's straight up not a good movie.

Post the very last movie you saw and what did you think about it.

Mines was Lord of War with Nicholas Cage. It's pretty good, a very underrated movie. And the cool thing about is that it's based on a real life gun runner! I know its a old movie but Idc.
Def for me The Batman, such a master piece, it definately inspired me to get back on my combat training and weight lifting. Ive been so lazy as of late but damn The Batman knows how to motivate lol

Just finished watching Cool Hand Luke, really enjoyed it. It was way more religious than I was expecting. The final shot sums everything up:

Watched a 2hr movie called 'The Holy Mountain' last night with @h00 . I still can't tell if it was just a very eccentric art-house film or a fucked up porno. 10/10 Would recommend.
Here are some screenshots from the movie (trust me, they don't spoil the "plot"):

Rewatched it a few weeks ago. I haven't watched anything new recently, I think the last thing may have been Into The Wild a few months ago. In any case, very good movie for something on a shoestring budget, definitely worth them going to jail for. The full thing is on YouTube, though if I can find an official copy I might buy one just to send William Hellfire some money.
EDIT: They actually released it on Blu-Ray back in 2021. There's still 600 copies left. Should I?

The last movie I saw was Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, at the beginning of January. I watched the first two seasons already and loved every second, so I had high hopes going in. While I would say its a good movie, I was a little let down. The film has a darker tone than the show, and I guess I just enjoyed the comfier aspects of the show so much that I was having withdrawals or something. The first forty minutes were my favorite part of the movie because we get Gordon Cole, Cooper, Bowie and Chris Isaak and felt way more like the show. I also liked the girl with the blue rose; she was cute. The rest of the movie was great too, but like I said the tone just wasn't the same. I also heard that season 3 is more like Fire Walk with Me than the original run, and that kinda turns me off. I will watch this again and season 3 eventually.

I understand being bummed by the lack of comfiness in FWWM and The Return, but I also think it was better like that in the long run. Especially for The Return, so much time had gone on and so much had changed since the original show that I doubt they could properly recreate that vibe without it feeling fake. Granted, I got into Twin Peaks while The Return was in the middle of running iirc and already saw a lot of other Lynch, so I had a lot of hindsight people at the time didn't.

Yeah I've seen like half of Lynch's films and think they're great. And I would probably agree with you that its better in the long run. it would be impossible for them to recreate the feel of the original two seasons, so I'm glad they didn't try. But damn I wish we could've just gotten a season three back in the 90s. I'll probably rewatch Fire Walk with Me in the next few days and I think I'll like it more.

I just watched Fire Walk With Me in the theater last night. It's an excellent film. Definitely darker in tone than the show itself, but it really adds a lot of closure to the series

Season 3 is quite a trip. I don't think it was necessary to continue the series after the original two seasons plus the movie, but I think it holds its own. It might be a little frustrating if you liked the character of Dale Cooper before it

Decided to rewatch Barry Lyndon. The movie gets a lot of praise now for its visual style and how Kubrick managed to capture the aesthetic of 18th century paintings, but when it came out critics panned it for being too cold and detached. I think both points are correct. The story is about a man who is essentially living a lie - he succeeds in life thanks to a series of accidents and then tries to pass himself off as a "gentleman" who's entitled to his status due to birthright. Barry is constantly lying, exaggerating, and covering things up, and the original novel is told from his point of view as an unreliable narrator. Kubrick decided that this wouldn't work on film, and instead decided to make the film visually unreliable instead. All the intense emotions the characters experience are either obscured by the beautiful and hyper-stylized presentation or left out of the narrative entirely and only alluded to. There are only a few moments where things break down, and they stand out in sharp contrast to the rest of the film. Just like Barry, the film is trying to convince you that it's more refined than it actually is. There's constant tension between the content of what's actually happening in the story and how it's presented, and the tension is what makes it so engrossing despite being three hours long. I loved it and think it might be my favorite Kubrick movie. All the female main characters are also relentlessly attractive, I was truly born in le wrong generation.

Anyone who likes Barry Lyndon or Kubrick in general should also check out the documentary Filmworker about Leon Vitali, the actor who played Lord Bullingdon and an all-around fascinating guy. Vitali became so enamored with Kubrick during the production of Barry Lyndon that he gave up acting after the film was done and became his full-time assistant. He was heavily involved in the production of the rest of Kubrick's films (editing, color timing, casting, acting coach for the kid in The Shining, played the red cloak guy in Eyes Wide Shut, etc.) but never got much recognition for his role due to it being entirely behind the scenes and mostly uncredited.
